“DISCOUNTS IN LAPU-LAPU, CEBU SUPERMARKETS FOR VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS”
Lawyer James Sayson of the Lapu-Lapu City Legal Office says he will meet with grocery store owners to ask them to give discounts to vaccinated persons. | Futch Anthony Inso.
LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU Philippines — Major supermarkets and grocery stores will be asked to give discounts to vaccinated individuals.
Lawyer James Sayson, deputy chief for the Local Vaccination Operations Center (LVOC), said that on Tuesday, September 7, he would meet with the grocery store owners to discuss such an initiative.
“Mag-meeting pa ko ato by Tuesday. Makig-istorya pa ko, it’s a working proposal,” Sayson said. (in Cebuano language)
(This proposal will still need to be presented to the store owners and to be approved by them, in our meeting this Tuesday.)
Sayson said that in that particular meeting, they would also identify how much discount would be given to privileged customers by the grocery store owners.
The proposal, Sayson said, would encourage more Oponganons (People in Lapu-lapu) to participate in the city’s vaccination rollout.
This is after they have observed the decline in the number of individuals visiting the vaccination sites.
It has been the aim of the city government to achieve herd immunity, or 70 percent of its population to be vaccinated by the end of November this year.
Currently, Sayson said that the city had already vaccinated nearly 150,000 individuals for the first dose, while more than 90,000 individuals were already fully vaccinated.
