39,000 Cebu minors listed for vaccination

NEARLY 40,000 minors in Cebu aged 12-17 years old are now in the master list of local government units just waiting for the national government to give the go signal on administering the Covid-19 vaccines to minors.

This, SunStar Cebu learned Tuesday, September 28, 2021, after contacting six towns and cities following Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr.’s announcement Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte had approved the vaccination of the general population, including adolescents 12 to 17 years old.

Duterte announced Monday, September 27, that the government might be able to vaccinate the general population, including children, against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in October 2021.

He urged parents to register their children who are eligible to receive the vaccine with their respective local government units (LGU).

The Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization to Moderna and Pfizer for the use of their mRNA vaccines in children aged 12 to 17 years old.
