“Transportation Preferences”
Going around the city of Cebu is easy. There are various types of transportation to choose from. Currently, the Philippines has traditional jeepneys (minimum fare: 9 pesos), modernized jeepneys (fare: 11 pesos), buses (fare: 25 pesos), taxis (fare: 50 pesos), and motorbike (fare: 20 pesos) as means of public transport.
On top of that, Jeepneys are the most popular means of public transportation in the Philippines. They were originally made from US military jeeps left over from World War II and are known for their flamboyant decoration and crowded seating. The best and the cheapest option to travel around my city is to take a jeepney. It only costs 9 pesos (around 20 yen).
Furthermore, a good part of intercity or long distance travel is done with buses, since the country has almost no rail transport today. In my area, Cebu Island doesn’t have any trains because it’s a small island. You can even travel the whole Cebu Island by car in a day.
How do I get to work? These days, I go to work by car or jeepneys. I personally don’t want to take a taxi since it’s too expensive. Motorcycle taxis were also popular in my city. However, due to the pandemic most people nowadays are totally hesitant in riding those. Sharing or using the same helmet being used by different passengers is something that we are not comfortable at. Even before the pandemic, I used to take a motorcycle taxi to get to work as they’re quite cheaper than taxi and you could arrive at your destination quicker than taxi. However, these days we have to keep in mind that Covid-19 is everywhere. We’ve got to be very careful and keep social distance as we go somewhere.

I took a modernized Jeepney this morning(Sept. 24,2021) to get to work.
セブの街を回るのは簡単です。様々なタイプの交通機関があり、その中から選ぶことができます。現在、フィリピンの公共交通機関には、伝統的なジプニー（最低運賃9ペソ）、近代的なジプニー（運賃11ペソ）、バス（運賃25ペソ）、タクシー（運賃50ペソ）、バイク（運賃20ペソ）がある。
その中でもジプニーは、フィリピンで最もポピュラーな公共交通機関です。ジープニーは、第二次世界大戦で使用された米軍のジープを改造して作られたもので、派手な装飾と混雑した座席で知られています。私の住む街を移動するには、ジプニーを利用するのが一番良くて一番安い方法です。9ペソ（約20円）で乗れます。
また、日本には鉄道がほとんどないので、都市間や長距離の移動にはバスを利用することが多いです。私の住むセブ島では、小さな島なので鉄道がありません。車でセブ島全体を1日で移動することも可能です。
通勤はどうしていますか？最近は車かジプニーで通勤しています。個人的には、タクシーは高いので乗りたくありません。私の街ではバイクタクシーも人気がありました。しかし、パンデミックの影響で、最近ではほとんどの人がバイクに乗ることをためらっています。
同じヘルメットを他の乗客と共有したり、使用したりすることは、私たちにとって快適ではありません。パンデミック以前から、私は通勤にバイクタクシーを利用していました。バイクタクシーはタクシーよりも安く、目的地に早く着くことができるからです。しかし最近では、Covid-19がどこにでもあるということを念頭に置かなければなりません。気をつけて、社会的な距離を保ちながらどこかに行かなければなりません。
