STREET FOODS IN CEBU

Hi everyone, in my blog I will be introducing and talking about “street foods in Cebu”.

The first street food is “tempura”.

Filipinos also loved to eat Japanese food like Tempura. Tempura is a known street food in the Philippines and Filipinos have their own tempura recipe and flavor. It is a fried Japanese food filled with shelled shrimp and dipped in batter or even with vegetables. You can find a strolling tempura vendors with his bike and cart in most of the street and public area of any provinces of the Philippines. Vendors can cook tempura while you wait in just their stance or bikes and you can also choose your tempura pieces in their basket since there are some tempura which is small and big, sizes are different exactly but when it’s already been boiled, it will just sprout from it’s raw small size.

The second street food is “kwek- kwek”.

One of the most popular street food in the Philippines is Kwek-kwek especially in Manila, it is easy to bake and it’s one of the best appetizer for street workers and students in the Philippines. Kwek-kwek is made up with quail eggs (Itlog ng Pugo)(boiled) and wrapped with orange tinted batter then fried. There is also a popular variation of Kwek-kwek which they called it “Toknenang” unlike Kwek-kwek Toknenang is made up with chicken eggs not chicken eggs. Though kwek-kwek has also another variation many people and tourist were confused due to the similarities of both street foods. Owing to the fact of the popularity of these foods, most schools and universities in Manila has stalls for kwek-kwek and other street foods outside their campus. Since it is cheap students can afford to buy kwek-kwek as an treat to their friends and classmates outside the school campus.

The third street food is “fish ball”.

Once you have gone to the Philippines you will be experiencing eating delicious foods in the street, sidewalks and schools. For an instance while you’re on your way to work or in a journey you will surely get hungry in streets so most Filipinos has established an mini cart that cook and sells foods while in the street and in any public and populated area. Fish ball is one of those foods that they can cook in their mini cart while you wait, it is delicious and cheap and most kids, students and street workers love to eat it. Nearly all of fish ball vendors skewed fish balls on a bamboo stick and there are some vendors just placed it in a plastic or paper plate. Literally, every fish ball vendors has different sauce flavors for their fish balls, there are sweet sauce, sweet and sour, salty and spicy flavor. However most customers loved the spicy sauce flavor.

These are just a few examples of my favorite street foods in Cebu. I do believe that “Once tasted, always wanted” because these are not only delicious but these are cheap for everyone.
