Manila Ocean Park is unlike any other attraction or
museum in Manila. Opened in March 2008, the park is
well-known across the Philippine archipelago for its
biggest draw – Oceanarium. Containing 3,000 cubic
meters of seawater divided into 7 sections, the
Oceanarium houses over 13,000 sea creatures from
around 277 species that are indigenous in Southeast Asia.
The water used for this attraction is derived from the
recently upgraded Manila Bay. To make the water
suitable for marine creatures, the facility has to filter it
through an array of technologies. More than just an
aquarium, the park is extremely informative and
educational as well. Guests can learn more about the
park by visiting “The Back of the House”.
Ever saw something whiskery perform incredible funny tricks? Pick the best seat on the front row of the stadium as I did and enjoy the lovely tandem of sea lions on their live show. Get along with their groove, help look for hidden items, and clap with them as they excite and cheer with the audience. Be a trainer for a day and get a close encounter when you participate. Teach those tricks; catch a couple of treats, and get a sweet kiss afterwards. Kids will surely enjoy it as much as I did.
